Bookmark and Share
BlackBerry finally announced tablets previously called BlackPad on rumors. Latest Blackberry Tablet is called Playbook, with a 7 "(1024 × 600), dual-core processors, support for WebKit, Java, Open GL, Flash 10.1 and micro-USB connector that does not exist on the iPad. The tablet also supports H.264 video, MPEG4, WMV and can even display video FULL HD 1080p resolution but lowered according to the screen.

Blackberry Playbook hardware specs are also quite impressive where dual-core processor 1GHz , 1 GB RAM, micro-HDMI output, there is even a front camera (3MP) and rear (5MP) which is also capable of recording HD video and still images.

Playbook tablet demo looks very cool and seems to make the tablet-based Android becomes more or less okay because the user-interface features that seem far more suitable for tablets, instead of using a tablet such as "great phone".

RIM is promoting the fact that the Playbook support "multitasking" is real (unlike Apple which is more limited) and can run Flash 10.1, which means "a full web experience".

RIM also said that the tablet is more secure and position the tablet Playbook as "professional" at this time.

This tablet is a great announcement for the rim, and that will shake the tablet market. Unfortunately the price has not been determined and you can guess, this will be a major factor affecting sales. Blackberry Playbook possible price is around 500 USD - 1000 USD.

Presumably this will be expensive tablet Playbook than iPad tablet because it has been positioned as a "pro". On the software side, RIM has taken serious steps: the company announced its advertising platform and completeness of the SDK and developer tools support.

Blackberry Playbook:

    * 7″ LCD display, 1024 x 600 screen resolution
    * 5.1″ x 7.6″ x 0.4″ (130mm x 194mm x 10mm)
    * 0.9 lbs (400g)
    * Built-in microUSB connector
    * Multi-touch capacitive screen
    * Wi-Fi® 802.11 a/b/g/n

We have to see whether all this effort will produce results in the next year or so.
